From what I remembered, the spices were strong and savory, they used flat bread as a base for a lot of different dishes, and if there was a picture of a pepper on the menu next to a dish, it was there as a warning. Being that is was so long since our last Indian meal, we couldn't wait to sample the food again. When we moved to Atlanta, Evan's cousin, Scott, mentioned that he and his co-workers frequent a low-key Indian restaurant called, Zyka. Good thing it is acceptable to eat with your hands! The food was great and we always wanted to go back but being in Mississippi at the time, there were no Indian-food options. By the end of the meal, there were so many dishes on our table that we had no room for our own plates. We ate at a restaurant called Khyber, which specialized in Northern Indian and Pakistani food. They are super foodies and Evan and I took advantage of their knowledge of the city and planned to eat our way through it. However, I have a serious sweet tooth that brings me to some wonderful desserts and luscious treats that I will go through the process of measuring for.My first venture into Indian food came when I visited my aunts in Houston. I tend to feel a bit more free when I'm cooking. Baking is more of a precise craft and measuring exactly is a must. I will say I do not do it nearly as much as I cook. Surprisingly enough, homemade pizza crust is not that hard to mix up and after a few tries you will probably be craving your own pizza instead of the closest Domino's!!! This is a great way to get crazy and try some things you may not have before on a pizza crust. I really enjoy making home made pizza, and creating different flavor combinations on them. Some of my most favorite recipes have come from needing to "use up" items that have been in my fridge. For over a year now, we have also truly enjoyed the past time of backyard farming. As a family we enjoy sharing delicious and simple meals. Raising our two girls as godly little ladies is one of our highest priorities. We have been married for almost 15 years. I am very, very blessed with a hardworking, handsome, and wonderful husband. In addition to being a Frugal Foodie, I am a stay at home, homeschooling Mom that truly enjoys being able to work out of my home, and being "Mama" to my two little girls. Plus, I get bored very easily, so having to prepare the same dishes day after day would get old quick, I'm sure. Never wanted to go to college to be a "Chef" as I thought it would take the FUN out of cooking and creating for me. I went to school originally as a hotel and restaurant major. I mean really enjoyed, not just eating, but creating, and making it an art form. I have enjoyed food for as long as I can remember. Having grown up in Upstate NY on a potat o farm, I was always blessed to have good, homemade-FROM SCRATCH-meals. Hope you enjoy and feel free to join into the conversations and like us on our Facebook page!Ī Little Background on Frugal Foodie Mama: I'll also be blogging about our adventures as homesteaders, and learning to be more sustainable on this small 7 acre farm we've been blessed with.
